Merry Christmas, Data Design! is the 20th episode of Scott The Woz Season 6 and overall the 250th episode. The episode was announced ahead of time on January 3rd, 2023. While the upload date was previously announced as January 5th, 2023, a power outage delayed it to the next day. However, the episode was not uploaded on this day. It was eventually released on January 7th, 2023, by Scott Wozniak on Scott The Woz.

Scott's late. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

On Christmas Eve, Scott Wozniak and his friends (namely: Jeb Jab, Rex Mohs, Terry Lesler, Target Employee & his former-therapist Jerry Attricks) open the Left Pole to compete with Santa Claus but they don't have any presents to give away. While Scott is contemplating what to gift, the others find a trolley with many games Data Design developed/published. Lesler then says that they have to test each of the products to make sure they don't endanger children's safety. They then go through and play every single game, finishing in April of next year and missing their deadline. After wasting four months of his life playing terrible shovelware games, Scott realizes that the important part were all the memories he and his friends made along the way. He then goes to sit back at his desk, saying if Data Design were here today he would wish them "Merry Christmas, Data Design". He then picks up his Nintendo Switch and sees Junior League Sports: 3-in-1 Collection (a compilation of three games originally created by Data Design), happy knowing that the games/series they made years ago are still around.

End Cards[]

[Camera fades out to 2 shadows, presumably Jeb Jab and Scott Wozniak. Scott waves to the camera before handing Jeb a Christmas hat. Jeb puts on the hat and they both walk to the right]

[Several objects are shown against the wall. These include Scott and Jerry Attricks setting up a Christmas tree with Target Employee outside the window, a drawing of Madden 08’s cover art with various texts and numbers written on it, a picture of Scott, Target Employee, Jeb Jab, Rex Mohs, and Kay Swiss running from something, a photo with the text “Merry Christmas -Team Fxcked” on it, stacked copies of Star Fox 0 for Wii U, a picture of Scott holding a bag with Wii games falling out of it, a portrait of Terry Lesler with a card underneath it, Jeb Jab in a suit holding a present with “GEX” written on it, Target employee on the ground being greeted by the ghost of Wendy’s Employee, a sticky note with “FOR FUN :)” written on it, the “A” used by Rex Mohs in Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast | The Curse to identify someone as a f*cking creep or a f*cking friend[1], a drawing of Rex Mohs that was used in the Rex Mohs Crusi-Fiction special, a picture of Rex Mohs in a suit wearing a Wario hat smoking a cigarette and drinking canned beer, a photo of various characters featured throughout the Scott the Woz series in a room talking to each other, and a photo of Jerry Attricks reading a Naughty List with the entries “Ultra Smash”, “Amiibo Festival”, and “Chibi Robo - Zip Lash”]

[Scott hangs up a frame with broken glass of the logo of “Merry Christmas, Data Design” at the end of the wall]

[The camera slowly fades to black]

[Camera fades to Scott looking out the window. Outside is snowy with a couple of trees in the distance. Santa is seen flying above]

Santa: Ho Ho Ho!

[Cuts to the other side of the window facing Scott.]

Scott: [quietly] Son of a bitch.

Scott: *Waves at the camera* Hey all, Scott Here, Go greet a season It's the busiest Christmas eve of the year for us over here at the left pole! Uh Santa's got the north covered we got the left.

Scott: I formed this company when I noticed that Santa Claus was the only supplier of holiday cheer, If I wanted from anybody else I'd have to convert religions!

Scott: It's a monopoly and if you disagree... Well I dont.

Scott: Competition helps everybody especially self-esteem! Santa's been cruising on elf labor and white hair for the past 2000 years and it's all because nobody stood up to him to tell him to do better.

[Camera cuts to Terry Lesler]

Scott: [Slides into the scene and looks at Terry] So, We have four hours to finish and deliver gifts to every person on earth.

Terry: Ever?

Scott: I don't think Santa does the dead ones so that's a good market to reach.

Terry: We can't travel the world by ourselves that's a nine deer job.

Scott: Put me in a room with 9 deer and tell us to do a job I'll finish top five

Jeb: We've only finished two presents so far and one's were IOU

Scott: Okay well if it comes to it then the pack of cigarettes we can seperate amongst 20 people.

Jeb: I just don't see how we compete Santa, we don't have anything to combat him, We don't have silver bullets we don't have garlic?

Scott: Well we’re just gonna have to learn everything Christmas. We’re gonna have to do everything he does.

Rex: [Using spray paint on his beard] I’m going as fast as I can!

  • This is the only season finale to be released in January and, thusly, the only season finale to release the year after a season's premiere.
    • Despite this, Merry Christmas, Data Design! had the shortest time between a season's premiere and finale.
  • This is the first special (let alone a Christmas special) to incorporate Break In as a leitmotif.
  • The special was announced before its release along with the untitled Wii U special on January 3rd in a community post.
  • Some of Data Design’s Wii games were previously covered in the Shovelware Variety Hour series.
  • The episode was delayed due to a power outage.
  • Scott performs the O face.
  • The episode released on the six year anniversary of the Scott The Woz series. (albeit unintentionally)
  • During the episode, a remix of the track Main Theme - Ninjabread Man by AdventureWetpaint plays, which features lyrics from the 2007 animated show "The Nutshack". This is a reference to Shovelware Variety Hour, where Scott mistakenly used AdventureWetpaint's remixed version instead of the real theme.
  • This is the first episode of Scott The Woz to release on a Saturday.
  • In the Music list in the description, the song "Mini Golf" from Mario Golf (N64) is incorrectly labelled from Mario Kart 64.
  • This is the first, and so far, the only episode in the Scott The Woz series where the backdrop color of the credits sequence briefly changes to a different color until changing back to blue near the end.
  • Due to the multiple delays of the episode, Scott incorporated this as an actual plot point in the episode as he and the gang are late for their deadline, and finish playing the games on April 16th, 2023.
  • Scott commented on Merry Christmas, Data Design!, saying, "See! I can comment too!! Thank you all so much for watching Scott The Woz throughout the past year. 2022 was a very difficult year for me as I’ve been severely struggling with time management. While the weekly schedule of previous years was not sustainable, the “experiment” this year with just putting episodes out when they were done and not worrying about meeting a deadline, while sounding less stressful on paper, it somehow ended up being far more draining for me than ever before. I always felt like I wasn’t doing enough and instead of having more time off, I oddly found myself at the computer this year more often, many times fixating on small edits that nobody even noticed probably because I was thinking, “Oh, I have more time now, so I have GOT to make these videos perfect!”. But in the end, while I’m immensely proud of my quality of work this year, I felt I didn’t innovate and evolve my style and production as much as I would’ve hoped. I think 2022 was a good year for quality, standard Scott The Woz episodes, but I’d like 2023 to have far more variety like previous years. Typical episodes, new styles of episodes, longer episodes, shorter episodes, etc. I really want to focus on my content specifically in the next year, which does mean I’m not sure if I will have time for another merchandise for charity event or a convention appearance in 2023. Right now I really just want to make my videos, feel really good about them and have fun making them, rather than be stressed out that the episode I’ve been working on for the past two weeks still isn’t done and I just want it to be finished and over with so I can move onto the next thing. That’s what 2022 felt like which made it an incredibly draining year for me. I think I work far better with a very specific schedule, which is something I am going to be focusing on over the next month or two as I prepare for 2023. As I get older, I want to ensure I have a schedule that works for all of you and works for me, as I have to fit big boy adult things into my week more than ever before now. When I eventually have children I don’t want to be at my computer for 16 hours a day like I have been this year, but I also want to ensure I can keep doing this because, well..this is my dream! Anyways, I apologize for the ramble about 2022 and also for the inconsistencies this year. This Christmas special got crazy delayed due to the amount of work going into the final episodes of 2022, a silly, stupid power outage that lasted WAY longer than I wanted and, of course, the holidays as a whole taking a lot of time away from being able to work on these things. I have not been happy with delaying episodes and I hope this will not happen again, but sometimes, things like this happen, and while I need to be okay with it, I do want to get back to having strict deadlines. Maybe less strict than in previous years, but more strict than in 2022. With that being said, thank you all for sticking with me, and I hope 2023 is gonna be both A year and THE year. Thankfully, it’s already A year so we’re already 50% there."
