Breakout, known as Block Destruction in the original soundtrack, is a track composed by either Shinji Hosoe, Ayako Saso, Shoichiro Sakamoto, Teruo Taniguchi, or Norihiro Hurukawa for the PlayStation 3 game, 3D Dot Game Heroes, where the track was used in the Blockout mini-game. The song is mainly known for being the former outro and defacto main theme of the Scott The Woz series and has often been a leitmotif for original tracks used in episodes.
Appearances[]
In the Scott The Woz series, Breakout has been used as the outro, and, in most episodes of Season 1 and some Season 2 episodes, as background music. It has also been used once in Seasons 3, 5, 6, and 7.
The song was also used in many WozniakNewsTV videos, first being used in the video "Take a Gander at the 'new Wozniak News.com'" as background music and later used for the last time in the last video on the channel, Wozniak News: 2006-2012 GO TO MAH NEW CHANNEL" where the music can also be heard throughout the video as Scott Wozniak announces his new channel.
The song gained more popularity for its use as the outro for the Scott The Woz series. Starting with A Very Madden 08 Christmas, the song has been used as a base in original music for episodes. Such as breakout (sad edition) by shamyer, the ending portion of The Bible Game Gospel by Mike Stoney, and Scott The Woz Battle Theme by Alen Riddick. Most rips of the song on the Internet have comments that mention Scott The Woz.
Replacement[]
Starting with the Season 6 premiere episode, Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast - The Curse. The outro theme song changed to Break In (End Card) and will likely remain that way throughout the rest of the series (with the exception as a leitmotif) due to Breakout not being owned by Scott Wozniak.
According to Garrett Williamson, Scott had tried to reach out to the composer of Breakout in attempt to gain rights to the song. However Scott failed to reach them. This lack of owning the rights to Breakout may be why Scott replaced Breakout with the new original song.
Use in 3D Dot Game Heroes[]
The song plays in the Blockout mini-game, found in the Orgato Village (a location in 3D Dot Game Heroes). Blockout is a reference to Atari's Breakout.
